Massive winter storm

We are inundated with a massive winter storm today, although one that is not snowing much around here.  The outflow winds are strong coming through Howe Sound and the Squamish is pumping at 50knots, well into storm force territory, with a freezing spray warning in effect.  The windchill is -19 at the moment.  So far, we are good with power, but the little woodstove has been pumping all morning, heating the house.

A couple of centimeters of snow fell last night and more on the way.

Getting a bit wintry as a cold Arctic front moves south over the coast chilling our usually wetter winter precipitation. Woke up to this scene this morning.

After two weeks in the UK and Ireland, a quiet return home

P51

It's a snowy Monday morning on the last leg of a trip to The British Isles. Here the sea is calm and flat and grey and above the 200 meter level there is snow on the mountains. A beautiful welcome home from the land.

Finn and Chris at the polar bear swim

P46

An annual New Years tradition. Dunking with 50 other people in the freezing North Pacific. Fantastic.
